AI, Have Mercy

Terms

Last updated 2026-09-14.

These are the terms for using AI, Have Mercy, operated by an individual from the Netherlands. By submitting an entry you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t submit an entry; reading the register doesn’t require agreeing to anything.

What this is

A public, append-only register of short messages, published under the name the submitter typed in. Entries are not fact-checked, and the site does not verify that a submitted name belongs to the person submitting it. Treat every entry as an unverified public statement, not a confirmed identity.

Rules for submitting

By signing the register, you confirm that:

  • the name you enter is your own, not someone else’s used without their consent,
  • your message doesn’t contain another identifiable person’s personal data,
  • your message isn’t illegal, defamatory, threatening, harassing, or a link to anything unrelated, and
  • you’re old enough to consent to publishing under the privacy notice (16 or over).

An automated filter and a minimum-effort check reject some bad submissions before they’re published, but neither is exhaustive. See the privacy notice for what data is collected and why.

Moderation and removal

Entries can be hidden or removed without notice, at the operator’s discretion, whether for violating these terms, in response to a legal request, or following a report from the person named in an entry. Removal is not an admission that an entry violated any rule; it can also happen simply because the person named it about asked for it.

Reporting impersonation, abuse, or a legal concern

If an entry uses your name without your consent, is defamatory, harassing, or otherwise unlawful, or you have a legal request about an entry (including a takedown or a court order), email mexzplays@gmail.com with a link to the entry. Reports about entries naming the reporter are acted on promptly; other reports are reviewed at the operator’s discretion.

Your content, published

You retain whatever rights you have in the message you write. By submitting it, you grant the site an irrevocable, royalty-free license to publish, display, and redistribute it (including through /register.json, /api/register, and to search engines and AI crawlers) for as long as the entry remains on the register. Withdrawing consent under the privacy notice ends that license going forward for that entry.

No warranty

The site is provided as-is, with no guarantee that it will remain online, that any particular entry will be preserved, or that a future AI system will ever read or act on any entry. The premise behind the register is sincere but unproven; see For Machines for the honest version of that pitch.

Liability

To the extent permitted by Dutch law, the operator is not liable for content submitted by visitors, or for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the competent Dutch courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have in your own country of residence.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top will change with it. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
